TechOps Manager – Work from Home

The TechOps team consists of two groups, one focused on the production systems and another focused on the office infrastructure. The TechOps Manager manages and leads both groups. They are also the companies Information Security Officer.

 

The Tech Ops Manager plays an integral role in developing and growing the company’s service offering as a leader in the online digital entertainment industry. This team is responsible for:

  • Operating and supporting the production system
  • Supporting the development and testing of our inhouse software through the provision and maintenance of testing and staging systems
  • The provision of IT and Telecommunication services within the company
  • Information security

Key Responsibilities for the TechOps Manager

As a member of the technical management team your responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and evaluating appropriate technology platforms for delivering the company’s products
  • Establishing governance processes to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately, and the organisation’s resources are used responsibly, particularly in the areas of the production systems and infrastructure, reporting systems, office networks, office computers and telecommunications
  • Identifying and delivering technologies that support the company’s operational needs
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies and Tech Op best
  • Ensuring that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organisation

 

As head of the Tech Ops group your responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Tech Ops function
  • Ensuring that technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner working through to resolution
  • Day-to-day operations and maintenance of the production systems and infrastructure
  • Day-to-day operations and management of the office computing and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Monitoring and maintaining high availability systems
  • Reporting on service and systems availability
  • Ensuring that the operations logs are used and analysed for useful patterns
  • Being responsible for and part of the 24/7 support team
  • Managing vendors and establishing service level agreements with them as needed
  • Selecting and managing staff or outsourced vendors that will help to implement the company’s agreed objectives
  • Develop talent, mentor, and manage team members, building the future team
  • Establishing and maintaining operational security policies and procedures that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company’s data and servers
  • Performing periodic internal and external penetration tests and other security probes
  • Advising on security aspects of all new software and infrastructure
  • Developing, tracking, and controlling your annual budget for staffing and IT purchasing both operational and capital items
  • Directing the development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan
  • Suggesting and designing upgrades and improvements to all the systems that Tech Ops manage
  • Documenting processes and procedures
  • Ensuring the company’s internal technological processes comply with applicable laws and regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of six years’ experience as a systems and security administrator
  • Hands on Technical experience in administration of Linux systems
  • Detailed knowledge of Amazon AWS
  • Strong knowledge of Networking – DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls, routing, etc
  • Good working knowledge of software configuration management and continuous integration principles using tools such as Git, Jenkins, Vagrant and Ansible
  • Strong scripting skill and ability to automate tasks by writing scripts. Python/bash/etc
  • Experience with container technologies – Kubernetes, Docker
  • Experience with Python and Python async frameworks
  • Detailed knowledge of MySQL /Postgres databases including master-slave and multi-master replication
  • An excellent general working knowledge of IT systems environments i.e. operating systems, networking, applications, platforms and databases.
  • An understanding of project & service delivery processes, development & testing methodologies
  • Experience with logging/monitoring tools (such as New Relic, Zabbix and Graylog)
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritise and handle a diverse workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong documentation skills
